RoboRium Sponsors Brampton Library CANHack for Teens and Adults
In honour of Canada Day, Brampton Library is organizing CANHack, an online 2-day (30 hour) hackathon to celebratte Canadian innovation, creativity and ingenuity. The hackathon is focused on improving the skills of the participants, and collaboration to build hacks to help the country, and solve some real-life Canadian problems!
How does it work?
1. Plan: Join our Discord server , form a team 2-4 , choose a problem to address, and start ideating.
2. Prototype: Use your creativity and any available software or hardware (or emulator) to build your solution over the weekend.
3. Present: Create a demo video to show your project to the judges for a chance to win prizes!
No experience necessary!
The event will host a series of beginner workshops to set you up for success throughout the weekend. Mentors will be on hand to guide you, support you on and cheer you on.
Plus! you can participate in fun virtual activities and mini-events such as social media challenges, a Virtual Escape Room, and more!

Who can participate?
Brampton Library CANHack is open to Brampton secondary and postsecondary students, as well as recent graduates. You must be at least 13 years of age to participate and a resident of Ontario. You must also be a Brampton Library member.

I don't know how to code, can I still participate?
Yes! This is a beginner friendly hackathon. All types of programming and coding applications are acceptable, including beginner friendly visual and block-based platforms such as Scratch and MIT App Inventor.
Even if you consider yourself an absolute beginner, there are lots of things you can bring to the table. If you love problem solving, have killer design skills, or are great at making a business pitch, these are valuable assets to any team.
What if I don't have a team?
Don't worry! We'll help you find teammates as part of the registration process when the event begins.
What is a Discord Server?
Discord is the chat platform where all the activities and fun will happen. Participants will receive instructions by email on how to join.
Will there be prizes?
Yes! A prize will be awarded for Best Overall Hack as determined by the judges. Anyone who submits a hack will also be eligible to win draw prizes.
